Hi there

Is importing and exporting data from the Address Book version-specific?

When I export Address Book data as an .abbu archive from a Mac running 10.5, if I import this data on another Mac running 10.5 it works fine. However, when I import this data in 10.6, although it seems Address Book recognises the Categories I have set up, it won't recognise the contacts.

Is it therefore impossible to use the same Address Book archive data across Macs running different versions of OSX, and if so is exporting all the contacts as a vCard the solution?

Thanks in advance

Helen

Hi Helen

I've had the same issues that you have experienced.

For the time being I think vCards are the way to go. I have logged a bug with Apple so it may get fixed at some point in the future.

Cheers

Richard

Thanks for the reply Richard.

My .abbu archives now seem to work on both 10.5 and 10.6 so something must have been ironed out in there!

Thanks

Helen
