Is it possible to use VPN on client Macs as opposed to those using Snow Leopard server?
We just run client Macs in our office and it would be really useful for people to be able to access shared folders on our server by VPN.

Do I need to use a third-party company to provide the VPN server?
Or can a client Mac work as a VPN server?

Thanks in advance

Helen

You could use third parties such as hamachi or logmein, however there are costs to them these days. You can still find open hamachi style services, how faith you can put in them im not sure anymore.

If you want to turn one of your clients into a vpn server you could look into openvpn.
http://openvpn.net/
Its open source and what most linux based vpn servers use.

Your other option is to put in a vpn firewall, like ones from netgear.
